Longdan Yan, born in 2000 in Chongqing, currently lives and works in Chongqing as an independent creator, performer, and guerrilla girl. Active in contemporary art fields such as theater, physicality, performance art, sound, dance, site-specific performance, and video, she explores the boundaries of identity, control, and freedom through interactions between the body and materials. Her work focuses on personal experiences of time and memory, addressing the body’s political nature and social discipline, often employing industrial materials to confront crises of physical alienation. Through a multidimensional language, she reconstructs body politics and deconstructs identity. Using a highly personal perceptual-narrative approach, she reconfigures bodily narratives between reality and illusion, striving to touch an ultimate form of expression untainted by consumerism.
