Ariana Leon is a sculptor and installation artist whose work confronts trauma, memory, and embodiment through the language of material and form. Her practice interrogates the aftermath of experience, translating rage into sculptural choreography that oscillates between exposure and protection, humor and horror, silence and confrontation. Through the concept of “leaky bodies” - fabricated, violated, or controlled openings - Leon examines how trauma inscribes itself upon both the self and the viewer, transforming victimhood into a site of power, resistance, and reckoning.
Leon holds an MFA in Sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she was a Liu Shiming Scholar and Bunting Scholar, and a BFA in Photography and Video from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her work has been exhibited in venues across the United States and Canada, including Gallery CA (Baltimore), The Delaplaine Arts Center (Frederick), Idiot Machines (Brooklyn), Everywoman Biennial at Pen and Brush (Manhattan), and the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival (Toronto).
