Every Image I Ever Was 04
2026, Archival Inkjet Print, 30 x 36 in
A photograph of Miller as a child building a sandcastle with a local bracelet seller is re-created by a computer and projected across a cave. The image falls over two discarded couches found there and arranged into a makeshift living room. Small framed prints rest on the cushions, making the rough space feel briefly domestic.

At the center of the work is a quiet moment of care between a child and a stranger. The cave has already swallowed abandoned furniture and debris over time, and Miller uses those discarded objects to build a temporary room. A memory of help and connection is placed inside a shelter made from things that were left behind.
A diffusion reconstruction of a photograph of me as a child, building a sandcastle at the beach with a local bracelet seller who was helping me, projected across the same Fishkill cave. The image falls over two discarded couches found on the site and arranged into a makeshift living room in the rock, framed diffusion prints propped on their cushions as though set out on a mantel. A scene of care between a child and a stranger comes to rest in a furnished cave, the most improvised of homes assembled from what the space had already swallowed.
