Strange Homes

Group Exhibition

Rexhibit Online Gallery is proud to present the group exhibition Strange Homes — “Where the familiar becomes uncertain.”
‍
‍
Home is often understood as a place of comfort, intimacy, routine, and belonging. Yet the spaces closest to us can also hold distance, tension, memory, and change. Strange Homes brings together works that examine how domestic environments shape the ways we live, relate to others, remember, and understand ourselves.

The exhibition considers home not simply as an architectural setting, but as a structure of emotional, psychological, social, and spatial experience. Familiar rooms, objects, gestures, and relationships can carry histories that are deeply personal, while also reflecting broader questions of family, privacy, displacement, identity, and belonging. What appears ordinary may gradually become unsettled, intimate spaces may feel unfamiliar, and memory may reshape the places we thought we knew.

Across different practices, the selected artists approach home as something constructed, remembered, inherited, negotiated, or transformed. Some works turn toward domestic interiors and everyday objects; others examine the body, family relationships, migration, or the emotional residue of lived spaces. Together, they reveal how home can exist between security and unease, attachment and separation, familiarity and estrangement.

‍Strange Homes invites us to look again at the places we inhabit and the experiences they contain. It asks not only what makes a place feel like home, but also what happens when that sense of certainty begins to shift. Through these works, home becomes less a fixed location than a changing field of memory, intimacy, identity, and lived experience.
